Old-Fashioned Blueberry Muffins

Ingredients

2cupall-purpose flour
2⁄3cupsugar
1tablespoonbaking powder
1⁄2teaspoonsalt
1⁄2teaspoonground nutmeg
2 eggs (beaten)
1⁄2cupmilk
1⁄2cupbutter (or margarine – melted)
1 1⁄2cupfresh blueberries
1⁄4cupsliced almonds
1tablespoonsugar

Instructions

Combine flour, 2/3 cup sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg in a large bowl, reserving 1 tablespoon to toss blueberries. Make a well in the center of the mixture.

Combine eggs, milk, and butter; add to dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Toss blueberries with reserved flour mixture to coat; stir into batter. Spoon mixture into greased muffin pans, filling two thirds full. Sprinkle with almonds and 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
